Daily Debate #58 · 2026-12-28

When a stranger wants to pet your dog on a walk, do you say yes?

Background

For a people-loving dog, a brief pat from a friendly stranger can be good socialisation and a nice moment for both. But the dog might be tired, nervous or startled by a sudden hand, so some owners decline by default to avoid any risk. Nearly everyone agrees that asking the owner first should be the norm.
