🎂 Dog and cat age in human years
"One year equals seven" is a myth. Dogs and cats grow up very fast in their first two years, and in dogs size changes how fast they age.

How is this calculated?
We follow the widely used guideline (e.g. the AVMA): the first year equals about 15 human years and age two about 24. After that cats and small dogs add about 4 years per year, medium dogs about 5, and large dogs about 6–7.
Breed, health and lifestyle change how fast an individual ages. From around age 7, a vet check-up at least once a year is a good idea.
